PRETORIA – WEDNESDAY, 7TH DECEMBER, 2016 – Zambia and South Africa have finally signed the historical Joint Commission of Cooperation (JCC).
The JCC provides for joint cooperation in sectors related to Energy, Agriculture, livestock, trade, mining, fisheries, forestry, commerce and Industry.
The signing was done by the two Foreign Affairs Ministers done by Hon. Maite Mashabani and Hon Harry Kalaba at Oliver Tambo Building at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation in Pretoria.
The works to establish the JCC has been underway since 2005.
Zambia has over 21 Agreements between the two countries but there was no effective mechanism to implement the agreements.
President Edgar Lungu is expected to arrive in Pretoria on Wednsday for a State Visit.
Heads of State visits to South Africa have been rare in recent times and were undertaken by Zambia in 2005, 2010 and now 2016.
